Now I can make pancakes!!
I'm a lousy cook and I love pancakes. I've always had to go to a restaurant to get a decent pankcake because I never figured out how to make them right.But when I got this Griddle I started turning out perfect pancakes every time! There must be something about iron. I've never had any iron cookware before. And the size is just small enough so it's not too heavy, but the flatness allows me to make a "short stack" of pancakes all at once.This is the most joy that $12.00 has brough into my life in a long time. And, I'll save a ton of money over the rest of my life not going to restaurants to get pancakes!!

Perfect griddle for up to two people
I'm a huge fan of cast-iron, so when I was in the market for a griddle I turned to Lodge. This is actually the first new cast-iron pan I've owned (the others I was lucky enough to inherit from my Grandmother), and while I know how to season one properly, it was worth the convenience to buy one preseasoned.I broke-in the griddle with some pancakes (an Alton Brown recipe) and they turned out amazing, better than any others I've ever had or made. The heat retention of cast-iron really makes a difference, and the low sides of the griddle made flipping the pancakes simple. The size of the griddle was perfect for my range and allowed me to make either 4 small pancakes or 3 medium sized ones at the same time. They browned perfectly and didn't stick at all (per the recipe I buttered the pan and then wiped the excess off between pancakes).I know cleaning might intimidate those unfamiliar with cast-iron but it couldn't be simpler. Great for making 3 egg omlets
I love cooking with cast iron. This pan is great for making those 3 egg omlets, pancakes, fried eggs, etc. The low lip makes it easy to get the spatula under the eggs and flip them. On the down side if you fry bacon or sausages in it, the grease will spatter the stove. On a campfire that of course won't be a problem.However if you have limited space in your kitchen cabinet get the combo cooker. The lid is nearly as large as this one and you get the fry pan as well.On the plus side, this pan being thin fits right under the stack of cast iron pans I already own. So if you cook for a large family and want to serve everyone faster, this is a good way to go as an additional pan.

Simple Yet Fantastic Recipes
I have been an avid user of cast iron for two decades and have used a variety of pots/skillets/dutch ovens/griddles for cooking darn near everything. I've used them for everything from cooking trout over a camp fire to making gourmet sauces for special occasions.This is the first book I have seen devoted to the wonder of cast iron. But that's not what makes it such a great cook book.The recipes are simple, filling and very good. Everything I have made so far has been a hit with my kids and hasn't left a huge mess of my kitchen. The skillet comes full from the oven or stove, goes straight to the table, and leaves empty. Many recipes can be finished easily in the short amount of time most of us have between arrriving home from work and when kids start howling with hunger. For those recipes that don't, I have made them one night and heated them through the next with great results.I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to serve good food easily. That it...

Does a good job, things to be aware of ...
I just cooked a thick ribeye steak using this grill. It's the first thing that I have cooked on it. Similar to a cast iron frying pan that I have, this generates a lot of "smoke". I had to take the battery out of my smoke detector, and open windows. I think I cooked it at a slightly higher temperature than I needed to. If smoke is a problem, think twice about buying this.The result is the best steak I have ever cooked indoors. It beats any electric grill I have ever used, and it beats the George Foreman grill hands down. I would say that the results are almost restaurant quality. I look forward to cooking hamburgers within the next day or so.I think this would work better with slightly less thick cuts of meat. Even at high heat it took longer than it would have taken on a grill. During the cooking I put a metal lid over the pan to control splattering.I think it will be a breeze to clean. The best burger you'll ever make indoors!
It's cast iron, so you can run this pan as hot as you dare to sear the flavor in. Makes excellent burgers and brats, with nice grill marks but no burned spots, even when well-done. Try that with a George Foreman and your burger will be black outside and dryer than the Mojave Desert inside.The square pan provides plenty of room to fry up a few burgers and the hot juices in the bottom are made-to-order for sauteeing a few mushrooms, onions, or peppers to go on top. The handle is fatter than older Lodge designs and quite ergonomic as long as you're wearing an oven mitt. Cleans nicely by boiling a little water in the pan and giving it a quick scrub with a stiff round natural-bristle vegetable brush and the hottest water that'll come out of the tap.I would recommend this pan over the 11.5" one Lodge also offers because the thicker bottom, smaller sides, and deeper walls of the 10.5" pan provide fairly even heat over the entire grill surface. Another AWESOME book by the Outdoor Princess!
This is the 3rd camping recipe book that I have enjoyed by the Outdoor Princess, Kimberly Eldredge. These are easy to follow and easy to recreate recipes for any level of camper and outdoor chef. Our family of 8 has enjoyed many of the recipes in this book - Navajo Fry bread is one of our all-time favorite!! (We make this one at home several times a month even in the winter when we are not camping!!) We use all of her books on our family camp-outs. Great indoor outdoor camping cookbook
I picked up this eBook for my Droid version of Kindle and I am very glad I did. I have done alot of Campfire, Firepit, Grilling type of cooking and thought I knew alot of recipes. The recipes in this eBook are great. Loved the Navajo Bread (done in a Cast Iron skillet over a firepit, and the BBQ Shrimp with Dill (on the grill). Grandma is an old camper from way back, so much so that she would love to just move into a tent for the summer, except that the cookbooks wouldn't fit, so she was happy to see. Great for an ELECTRIC grill
Before I get into this review, we have to understand the product we are looking at: a George Foreman ELECTRIC grill. George Foreman products are essentially useful variations of hotplates. In this case, the hot plate takes the form of a grill (with a stand, a dome cover, a large cooking surface with raised grooves etc...).That being said, this product caters to people (me) willing to try a product that is not a traditional charcoal grill, could be useful in smaller spaces/porches, looks like it is easy to use and clean up, could potentially cut some fat (never hurts, right?), and seems like it will work well as a good back-up grill or a quick solution to throwing mini-bbqs requiring even heat distribution without the hassle of buying/lighting/dumping coal. Originally I saw my mother's George Forman grill (smaller indoor one with lid). Then I saw my brother's Party Size grill. Both of them love their grill. I was able to taste the food from both and found it very tasty and easy to use. I decided to do some investigating on my own intending to purchase the party size grill, when I saw the indoor/outdoor grill. I was impressed with the fact that it appeared to be a bigger cooking surface and the price I found was within reason. I purchased it for the purpose of using it as an extra grill for a cookout I was having. No one used the gas grill at all. I have since used it indoors without the stand, making it convient on rainy days. It is the easiest grill to use and clean that we have ever owned. You can cook everything evenly, because there are no coals to level out. It can easily hold 4 to 5 steaks, 10 big hamburgers, and the list goes one. George is right. It actually does what he claims it will do!
I bought this grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since. I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he's a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible. I can turn on the grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the grill is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. Grilling really can't get much easier than this. After assembling the grill (which takes only a few minutes), simply plug it in and allow about 10 minutes to fully preheat the surface while you gather your steaks, kebabs, or whatever's to be grilled. The electric heat has an adjustable range from low (for keeping food warm) to high (for searing steaks). The nonstick grill surface not only means you can use a minimum of added fat, but it also makes cleanup a cinch. The surface has a subtle slope, with channels that draw accumulated fat or other liquids into a tray just below the surface. The high domed and vented lid helps create a circular flow of hot air to ensure even cooking--particularly important for a large roast or whole chicken.

The grill can be placed either directly on a tabletop or atop its pedestal. On its own, the grill surface stands about 6 inches high; with the pedestal, it stands about 2-1/2 feet high, not counting the domed lid. The pedestal is plenty sturdy for cooking, but the grill still seems a bit top-heavy, so pay special attention if grilling in a high-traffic area or near kids.
